UWE BANTON NEW LP

Three years after his debut album as a solo artist “JAH Roots“, UWE BANTON is now presenting the
long awaited follow-up, called “RIGHTFUL PLACE“. It comes with 17 brandnew tracks plus the already
last year released single “Money Fool“.
The album once again underlines why Uwe Banton is counted among the most characteristic Rasta-
Reggae Artists out of Germany and the well chosen featured guest artists add just that extra bit of
shininess to it. Not only his long time companions YAH MEEK and GANJAMAN are to be mentioned
here, but especially the Veteran Singer EARL SIXTEEN and the Old School DJ FLOURGON make an
overwhelming impact with their performances on the tracks “Praise Rastafari“ and “World Corrupt“.
Probably not so well known, but nevertheless excellent are the contributions of FITTA WARRI and
ROD OF IRON, both of jamaican origin, but residing in Germany.
Since most tracks for the “JAH Roots“ album came from various producers, the approach for “Rightful
Place“ has in some ways been different. Uwe produced most of the tracks by himself at his Rasta Yard
Studio and was therefore able to refine his song writing skills and add a more personal note to his
songs. Yet, to make it complete, there is are “Riddims“ coming from House Of Riddim (Austria),
Greenyard Records, Patate & Tune In Crew (all France) and one sprang out of a collaboration with
Indica Sound out of Malaga, Spain. Additionally there are two songs Uwe has been performing with
the Sharp Axe Band at his live shows for some time, “Race“ and “Love Reggae“.
Staying true to himself in a lyrical sense Uwe raises his voice against corruption and oppression, but
he's never making it seem as if lamenting is his only task. Songs like “Speak Of Love“ and especially
the title track “Rightful Place“ offer a bright outlook on life and how to deal with the obstacles coming
along your way.
Without a doubt UWE BANTON can look back on many years of experience within the Reggae Music
fraternity. Being infected with the “Reggae virus“ after his first trip to Jamaica in 1981 he started DJing
on Riddims way back in 1984 during the legendary era of King Jammy's Riddims like Sleng Teng and
others. In the early 90's he joined his first band as it became clear that he would find his genre within
musical realms of Roots Music. He later joined the Band “MOVEMENTS“ which, consisting of
members from Jamaica, Africa and Germany, for over 10 years stood as a guarantor of authentic
Roots Reggae and played on all major Reggae festivals in Germany and the neighbouring countries.
Over the last years UWE BANTON has more and more focused on his solo career and his debut
album “JAH Roots“ has made a tremendous impact on Roots Reggae lovers from all over the world.
Having anticipated the new release, “Rightful Place“ not only exceeds the high expectations of Roots
Fans from all over the world, but also proves that his commitment towards producing this new album
has enabled him to give the listeners just what they are looking for in these times of a hectic and
troubled world – an album full of Spirituality and Humanity, with uplifting messages and last but not
least musical maturity.
